The Kanata Fencing
Club is happy to give
people who have never tried fencing (or if you did fence a long time
ago) the chance to learn the basics of the sport in a friendly
atmosphere. We aim to make this a practical experience, which you
can then develop further in our friendly club. We run three sessions
every year starting in September, January and April. There are group
lessons Tuesday nights and an open sparring night on Fridays.
Individual lessons are also offered on Fridays.
All weapons are welcome, though the
group lessons on Tuesdays are offered only in foil.
For more advanced fencers with
electric equipment, we have a partnership with the other clubs in
Ottawa. As a member of Kanata Fencing, you are also welcome to fence
at Carleton University on Saturday mornings and at the RA Centre on
Monday Nights. Please ask your coach for details.

New Beginner's Course
Beginner
courses start in September, January and April. The duration is three
months per session. Newcomers are welcome at anytime and will
be integrated with other club members. Places are limited and
allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Group lessons are on Tuesdays from
6:30 to 7:30pm for children (10 to 13 years) and 7:30 to 9:00pm for
teens and adults. On Fridays we have an open fencing night for
all ages. Individual lessons are also available on Friday nights.
The Friday class is from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Equipment is available,
however, you will need to wear trousers that will stretch a bit -
tracksuit bottoms are ideal - gym shoes - and a T-shirt. You will also
want to bring something to drink, as fencing can be thirsty
work.
Club fees are $180 per session.
Individual lessons are $10/15 minutes.
If you need to borrow club equipment a $100 deposit is required. The deposit is returned when the
equipment is brought back in good condition.
